If there’s one person we can count on for some outdoor-ready fashion advice, it’s Helen Skelton. The TV presenter is no stranger to spending time outdoors in every type of British weather, so when she shared her go-to waterproof backpack that she’s been using during the summer holidays, you better believe we took notes.
During a recent family trip to the beach, Helen shared a snap of her Roll-Top Rucksack from Delta Roam which is ideal for the unpredictable weather. Priced at £69, the backpack is fully waterproof with plenty of room inside to keep everything you and your family might need for a day out, from snacks and drinks to waterproof jackets and beach towels.
The Roll-Top Rucksack is made from a durable PU material which is completely waterproof, and it’s been finished with aqua-guard zippers to make sure no rain can soak through and ruin what’s inside. The roll top design isn’t just for decoration, either; when rolled up it offers plenty of extra waterproof protection, whilst unrolling it adds several inches of extra storage space.

There’s a large 20litre capacity compartment inside, with seven individual compartments and pockets for things like water bottles, keys and snacks – all the things you need to keep at hand. There’s even an external compartment that’ll fit a 14” laptop inside, which has been finished in the same rain-proof material so you can use it for your commute to work or while travelling.
If you do think you need more space, Delta Roam also offers a larger version for £79, which has a 35 litre capacity, and has space for a 15” laptop instead. Although both bags are obviously a great choice for family adventures, they’re also a good pick for taking to work, heading out on a hike in the countryside, or using as a weekend bag.
The Delta Roam bag comes in three different colours, but if you want more choice you could also pick up the The Roll Top 15L Bag at Stubble & Co, which comes in 11 colours and is priced at £110, although some colourways are now on sale for £77. A more budget-friendly option is Decathlon’s 29L Backpack Rolltop with Laptop Pocket which is now just £39.99 down from £44.99.

If you plan on spending lots of time out on the water this summer doing things like kayaking or paddleboarding, Yeti’s 1L Waterproof Gear Case is well worth picking up. It’s small enough to attach to your belt, or fasten onto another bag or cooler, and keeps the contents 100% dry even if it gets submerged.
However Delta Roam’s Roll-Top Rucksack has been hailed by shoppers for how useful it is. It currently only has two reviews, one of which says: “Love this. Very stylish – great colour and great detailing and loads of room. Perfect.”
